Moab, Utah...

On our way back from Colorado, Nana and I stopped in Moab, Utah and spent the afternoon, evening and the next morning's dawn in Arches National Park.

We hiked in the Devil's Garden area in the early afternoon, almost stepping on a rattlesnake in the parking lot. Sorry - no photos. That evening, we hiked up to Delicate Arch for sunset. It is always a magical place to watch the light change as the sun goes down. We were not disappointed. The distant La Sal Mountains were covered with fresh snow which added a special touch to the scene...

The next morning, I drove back into the park before dawn and shot Balanced Rock silhouetted against the pre-dawn sky.

Unfortunately, shortly afterwards, we hit the road for the long drive back to California. All in all, a great trip.

Take care and here's to good light!

Colorado Fall colors...

I spent the last week in Colorado photographing the fall colors. Unfortunately, Mother Nature did not cooperate with my plans. As I arrived in the Ridgway and Telluride area, I was greeted with about 16-24" of new snow. Plus, the trees were not in prime shape or color. There was still a lot of green and not much yellow or orange. Oh well...you take what you can get and make the best of it.

I first headed up Owl Creek Pass between Ridgway and Cimarron. I was here two years ago at the same time and had great luck with both weather and colors. There are images in my gallery from that shoot. This time, I found a different scene...

Near Silver Jack Reservoir...

On Sunday, the day dawned clear and I headed up the Dallas Divide towards Telluride. The mountains were covered with fresh snow and the views beautiful!

Finally that afternoon, I headed up Last Dollar Road outside Telluride. Here lie some of my favorite aspen groves in all of Colorado. However, they were still mostly green this time so I was not able to get the photos I wanted. It was still a beautiful day though so I did my best to capture some images...

Oh well...hopefully I'll have better luck next time!

New Public Display...

I have a new public display at "Nik-N-Willies, Take and Bake Pizza", 11429 Donner Pass Road in Truckee, California. The display will run through the end of October.

For great pizza, stop by and place an order. While you're there, take a look at my photography on display. Better yet, buy a wonderful framed photograph and a pizza. You can get both to go!

Thanks all...
