Mt. Shasta Lavender Farms Summer Solstice Event...
Nana and I had a wonderful opportunity to photograph Mt. Shasta from a lavender farm near the town of Little Shasta during their annual Summer Solstice Labyrinth Walk and dinner, Saturday evening, June 25th.
Unfortunately, Mother Nature took control of two aspects of the evening. First off, the lavender was behind schedule in blooming so the magnificent purple colors were just not there yet. Second, the dozens of photographers present (myself included) were hoping for a clear, snow-capped Mt. Shasta to catch the last rays of the setting sun to feature as the background to our photos. But, clouds and an obscured peak were what we got instead.
Even so, it was a beautiful evening with wonderful hosts and the opportunity for photographs still existed, although they were not what I had envisioned beforehand...
The lavender was not quite blooming yet...
Stormy summit of Mt. Shasta looms above the lavender...
Last light on the peak...
I have been invited back to photograph sunset when the lavender peaks in about 10 days. Stay tuned and we'll see what I find!
