Sierra Valley...

I took a drive up to the Sierra Valley near Sierraville, California this morning to look for raptors and owls. I was able to see and photograph several birds of prey, including Red Tailed and Rough Legged Hawks, Golden and Bald Eagles. One of the two Golden Eagles I saw near a road kill carcass was one of the largest I had ever seen with a wingspan over 6 feet. Unfortunately, I was not able to get any good photographs of him/her. Here are a couple from the morning...

Red Tailed Hawk soaring over the valley looking for breakfast...

Bald Eagle circles near the town of Sattley...

A beautiful, cold morning for avian photography...
