Crater Lake Sunset / Moonrise...

Nana and I had the opportunity to head up to Crater Lake National Park in southern Oregon for the full moon rising on Saturday, August 13th, 2011. It was a beautiful afternoon and we explored around the rim drive before settling in at our chosen spot for the sunset. We were surprised to see how much snow was still around the lake given the fact it was the middle of August!

Here are some of the fruits of our efforts...

Vidae Falls and Lupine...

Lupine along the southern rim...

Lot's of snow around still...

The full moon rose at the perfect time just after sunset...

The earth's shadow provided a great colored sky...

The last bit of light before it faded away...

The actual sunset behind us was beautiful as well...

A perfect evening for photography...
