I got up early this morning and headed over to the Sand Harbor area along Lake Tahoe's east shore hoping to shoot the total lunar eclipse as it was setting over the mountains. The conditions were okay but as the light came up and the moon got lower to the horizon, (the shot I wanted) the moon disappeared behind some low lying clouds.Oh well...maybe next time!

Six of us got together this last weekend and explored the Eastern Sierra Nevada near Lee Vining, California. Not only did we find plenty of fall colors but we also found beautiful sunrises & sunsets, wandered around the old ghost town of Bodie, made new friends, had some great laughs, created many new images and challenged ourselves to climb out of our photographic box and try new things.

Northern California and Southern Oregon have been hammered for the last month with wildfires and the associated smoke. Nana and I just returned from a backcountry ski trip to Colorado. We stayed at "Janet's Cabin", one of the 10th Mountain Division Hut Association's 29 backcountry ski huts located throughout the Rocky Mountains. I have spent time in the last week chasing the fall colors in the Eastern Sierra Nevada. Unfortunately, conditions have been hit and miss. Some areas are already past prime and others, still green. I spent the last week in Colorado photographing the fall colors. Unfortunately, Mother Nature did not cooperate with my plans. It looked like it was going to be a great sunset tonight so Nana and I headed out to nearby Boca Reservoir to see what we could find. Unfortunately, the great clouds moved to the east and effectively out of play. But, I did find a patch of Lupine and Mules Ears to use as a foreground for what was left of the sky.
